| Authorised Liquids |
| |
| Cardiff security information now states that certain liquids are allowed through airport security check points, carried in a passenger's luggage. However strict rules and regulations are still in place and as detailed below; |
| |
| Liquids may be carried in hand luggage but only in quantities of 100ml or less. Each must be carried in a separate container. |
| |
| All these containers have to then be placed in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag, no greater than 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms). This bag must fit comfortably within the passenger's hand luggage. |
| |
The plastic bag, pictured below, needs to be removed from hand luggage at the security control points for separate inspection. |

| |
| Any liquids that can not be fitted within the 1 litre bag will have to be carried in the main luggage that is stored in the aircraft hold. |

| Authorised liquids include: |
| |
- Food and drinks i.e. water, soup, syrups
- Creams, lotions, oils, perfumes
- Spray cans and pressurized containers like shaving foam and deodorants
- Pastes such as toothpastes
- Cosmetic gels like shower and hair gel
- And such solutions of similar consistency

Baby foods are allowed to be carried in larger quantities however may be subject to authentication.
Essential medicines are also allowed to be carried in greater quantities but again may be subject to authentication. |

| Size of Hand Luggage |
| |
| Cardiff Airport security states a passenger's hand luggage must be no bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (note: the re-sealable bag must be able to fit within the cabin bag). |

| Please note that pushchairs and walking aids are permitted additionally, however will also be screened by security. |
| |
| PCs and Electrical Items |
| |
| Cardiff security information allows for PCs and large electrical items - hairdryers for example - to be carried in hand luggage, but will need to be screened separately so please remove from hand luggage as you approach security have to be removed from cabin baggage and screened separately. A laptop bag will be regarded as your one item that is allowed in the cabin. |

| Any item that doesn't fit in hand luggage will have to be placed in the passenger's main luggage to comply with Cardiff Airport security rules. However, musical instruments are allowed to be carried onboard the aircraft in addition to the one piece of hand luggage allowed. |

| Purchases From The Departure Lounge |

| Any goods bought in the departure lounge - including liquids - may be carried onto the plane. Such purchases will be placed in a sealed plastic bag. The bag's seal must not be broken until you have reached your final destination. You must also retain your receipt as you may be asked to prove the purchase was made in the Cardiff Airport departure lounge at transit points. |

| For a journey involving changing flights at any EU airport, additional restrictions apply. Liquid items i.e. duty free may only be taken through the security check points if: |

- they conform to the requirements for passengers departing from EU airports as set out above; or
- they have been purchased airside at another EU airport, or on board an aircraft operated by an EU carrier. You will need to show proof of purchase to demonstrate this.
Liquid items in excess of 100ml purchased from other airports or on board other airlines may only be carried as hold baggage on the connecting flight.

For entry into the Departure Lounge all travellers will pass through the airport's security controls. Here the boarding card and passport will be inspected.
Passengers then pass through the security check where they will need to place all their hand luggage through the x-ray machine. In addition shoes and coats also need to be removed. Pockets also need to be emptied.
Passengers with a pacemaker need to request a hand search as will Wheelchair users.
The metal detector is safe for pregnant women however they are able to request a hand search.
Sometimes passengers are chosen at just random searches to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. |
